Privacy Policy & Affiliate Disclosure

Site PolicyLast updated June 13, 2026

TrainMyDog (dog.it.com) is an educational site about reward-based dog training and care. We keep data collection to a minimum. This page explains what little we collect, how the free Dog Training Tracker works, how advertising and cookies operate, your privacy rights, and how we’re funded — including our participation in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program.

Who we are

This website is published by Mustafa Bilgic (Adıyaman, Türkiye), the editor of TrainMyDog. You can reach us any time via our contact page. “We”, “us” and “the site” refer to TrainMyDog at the domain dog.it.com.

What data we collect

We do not require accounts, and we do not ask for your name, email address or any personal details to read our guides or use the tracker.

  • Dog Training Tracker: the dogs you add and your progress checkmarks are stored in your own browser using localStorage. That data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers. Clearing your browser data erases it.
  • Cookie-consent choice: when you accept or reject non-essential cookies, that single preference is stored in your browser’s local storage so we don’t ask again.
  • Server logs: like virtually all websites, our web server records standard technical logs (IP address, browser/user-agent, the page requested and a timestamp) for security, abuse-prevention and troubleshooting. These logs are rotated and are not used to build profiles or identify individuals.

Advertising & cookies

This site is supported by advertising. We may display ads served by third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).

We may also use a privacy-respecting consent banner so visitors can accept or reject non-essential (advertising/analytics) cookies. Essential cookies needed for the site to function are always permitted; non-essential cookies are only intended to be set where allowed.

Your rights (GDPR — EU/EEA & UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. Because we do not collect accounts or contact details to use the site, the main “personal data” involved is the technical information in server logs and any advertising identifiers set by third-party ad vendors. You can manage advertising cookies using the opt-out links above, and you can clear all locally-stored data by clearing your browser storage. To make a rights request or ask a question, contact us.

Your rights (CCPA/CPRA — California)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money. Some advertising cookie activity may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law; you can opt out using the advertising opt-out links in the Advertising section above and by rejecting non-essential cookies in our consent banner. To exercise any California right, contact us.

Affiliate disclosure (Amazon Associates)

TrainMyDog is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

In plain wordsAs an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click a “Check price on Amazon” link in one of our “Recommended gear” boxes and buy something, Amazon may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra and never changes the price you pay.

Affiliate links never influence our editorial advice. Every product we mention is gear commonly recommended by trainers and owners, and the training methods in our guides work with any equivalent equipment. Pages containing affiliate links carry a visible disclosure. When you click an Amazon link, Amazon may set cookies on its own domain to attribute a purchase; those cookies are governed by Amazon’s privacy notice, not ours.

Our guides link to authoritative sources such as the ASPCA, the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the AVMA, and to products on Amazon.com. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external websites.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK), and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes & contact

We may update this policy as the site evolves; the date at the top reflects the latest revision. Questions about privacy, cookies or affiliate disclosure? Reach the editor, Mustafa Bilgic, via our contact page.
